I've been searching for a way to add shortcuts for headings for a long time now and I thought this would work. Tried it every which way but it does nothing :(

I'm using gpEasy CMS (a very easy too use flat file cms) and recently it added inline wysiwyg editing and I think that may cause an issue with your suggestion. . . I thought I finally found the solution. Really wish the CKEditor devs would making heading shortcuts available like other functions.

Wish I knew JS better!

Sorry I haven't had any experience with Drupal so I'm not really in a position to help. Hopefully someone else might see your comment and be able to help.

Sorry again.

Hi.

I have gone over this a number of times, and I keep getting confused with where everything goes.

I'm using Drupal 7, and I have /modules/ckeditor/ckeditor/ and /modules/ckeditor/ckeditor/_source.

And I don't have anywhere a Javascript folder, or even a ckeditor.config.js.

Hi Amit.

Appologies for this.

I thought it was Visual Studio I first come across this shortcut but it was in fact Netbeans. It doesn't work when writing PHP, but does when writing Java.

It would certainly be helpful in Visual Studio, but I don't know how to do it.

Hope that clarifies things. Thanks for pointing it out, and thanks for reading too!

Hi Perica.

Unfortunately I'm still very new to CKEditor plugins myself, so I'm probably not the best person to ask (by probably, I actually mean certainly).

It's worth noting that the creator of CKEditor left a comment on this post (see the first comment) so he seems extremely open to helping people. You might want to contact him.

I hope this is of some use.

Hi! First thank you for a very nice and detailed tutorial on how to create a small plugin.
If you don't mind, I have another question for you:

I need a macro functionality in CKEditor (like Auto-replace in Word). I need some predefined keywords are replaced with strings in real time, as the user types in the CKEditor, and I cannot make it work.

When I try to do this with get/load Snaphot() and javascript replace function, strings do get replaced, but the cursor in CKEditor gets either misplaced or lost, and on focus() it goes to the start of the content.

If you have any advice on how to solve this, it would be very appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you for posting this Greg.

I had the same trouble on a production server yesterday night with about 6 virtual hosts on a Debian box (Going from Debian 4.0 to Debian 5.0). But since Ubuntu is based on Debian your post really helped me.

It was very strange that some javacript was getting served, while everything under the /javascript/ directory was attemtping to get served at /usr/share/. It took me a few hours and your post to confirm this.

In addition, I should point out this same issue is present when upgrading lighttpd. On the upgrade the following file is enabled in /etc/lighttpd/conf-enabled/90-javascript-alias.conf with the contents alias.url += ("/javascript" => "/usr/share/javascript"). So any site or virtual host with content inside /javascript/ gets 'lost' trying to look under /usr/share/javacript/. Same story though, it's just a matter of disabling this or as you did changing the location from javascript to javascriptlib (That is unless you already have some content in javascriptlib, otherwise it will also get 'lost')

And for any other upgrader's that see this post. The automatic upgrade to MySQL ( going from MySQL 5.0 to MySQL 5.1 ) is even more painful if you have some prexisting database. The server (daemon) can't even start unless you comment out the line ( # Using BerkeleyDB is now discouraged as its support will cease in 5.1.12. #skip-bdb) in /etc/mysql/my.cnf. This change is also THRUSTED upon you! (From MySQL 5.0 to MySQL 5.1 they decided BerkleyDB of all popular things would be a good thing to disable! My goodness)

These open-source commits are getting too aggresive on staple projects like Apache, Lighttpd and MySQL. I would have expected this havoc going from Apache 2 to Apache 3 or MySQL 5 to MySQL 6. But even though I went from Debian 4 to Debian 5 , Apache just went from 2.1.x to 2.2.x, same with lighttpd -- just a minor version change -- and same with MySQL going from MySQL 5.0 to 5.1.

Anyways, I'll know think twice about upgrading even minor package versions.

Thanks again,.

Yeah I was kind of hoping I could use AirPlay from my iPhone to send through to iTunes. I could then install iTunes on all my PCs and as a result my iPhone would be the repository that knows where all my podcasts are at.

Haven't had any luck with that though.

If you had an Apple TV, you could use Airplay to send the rest of the podcast via the Apple TV, and therefore through your home setup.

You should also be able to sync your save games across the numerous games that run on multiply iOS devices too. Annoying to buy Angry Birds on the iPad and then have to run through all the levels again.

I should also say that it's probably worth just trying different podcasts. For both RSS feeds and Podcasts, if I look back at the ones I started reading and listening to they were all pretty pants. But they were just enough to get me interested enough to go on to find more.

Hi Russ.

You're best bet is to check out my <a href="http://greg.gannicott.co.uk/recommended%E2%80%A6/podcasts/" rel="nofollow">Recommended... Podcasts</a> page. It's fairly up to date. The only entries it's missing happen to be the ones mentioned in this post.

As for skipping iTunes, I can't help you there. I've only ever used iTunes. I'm not condoning such action, but truth is it's never been too bad on me.

Hi. I recently changed jobs and now I have a 45 min commute, perfect for podcasts. I'm very uninterested in everything apple to be honest, do you have any other recommendations? Also are you aware of any way to get them to my ipod without itunes please? I have dopisp (app) which might do it... Hmm

I'm usually the same. It's rare that when reading the net I'm in a situation to watch video. As I don't actually read much on my PC, it means I usually have a piss-poor connection or a slow device. That's changed a bit recently though since getting the iPad and an iPhone 4. Both are good for video so as long as the signal is good, I now watch. Mind you, I still have an issue with my concentration span and a 5 minute YouTube clip.

Shame you didn't watch the video though. On this occasion I'd actually recommend it. You get a sense of the audience thinking "is he really saying these things!?". I get the impression we wouldn't pay much attention in the UK. I think after the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAU7pATH5_M" rel="nofollow">fisting Normal Lamont</a> incident, it's all par for the course.

Thanks FredCK.

I really appreciate you reading the post and feeding back - not to mention the work you put into CKEditor. It's an excellent piece of software.

I'll take a look at the loop idea and if I can pull it off (I'm still relatively new to CKEditor plugins) I'll update this post.

Hey Greg! Nice post!

Note that you can do all that in a single plugin, just creating a while loop that creates the style and the command from 1 to 6 in the init function.

Anyway, I'm happy to see a smart usage of CKEditor ;)
